Who is Elianne Andam Croydon?

Eliann Andam is a British girl of Ghanaian origins stabbed to death in Croydon in London in September 2023.

Andam, 15 years old, reportedly died defending her friend.

Her parents are – a British NHS nurse mother and a Ghanaian father.

According to MailOnline, the incident occurred on the number 60 bus outside the Whitgift Shopping Centre close to East Croydon station Wednesday morning.

Elianne Andam and a friend were travelling on the bus when the assailant, a 17-year-old who was Andam’s friend’s ex-boyfriend, came on board and gave her a love letter and flowers.

She reportedly turned down the overture of love and that infuriated the assailant.

After they got off the bus, he brought out a ‘sword-like’ zombie knife and that’s when Elianne Andam reportedly moved in to defend her friend.

She was stabbed in the neck and chest and died on the pavement as people around and emergency services frantically worked to try and save her.

“He gave her the flowers and she threw them away. Her friends all dispersed when she went down. After that, the boy apparently stabbed her, blood gushing out and the police put pressure on it. She died on the spot,” a witness described the carnage.

The family of Elianne Andam in Croydon released a statement following the death of the 15-year-old.

“Our hearts are broken by the senseless death of our daughter. Elianne was the light of our lives. She was bright and funny, with many friends who all adored her,” the statement began.

“She was only 15, and had her whole life ahead of her, with hopes and dreams for the future. All those dreams have now been shattered. Our lives have fallen apart, along with that of our wider family.

“We ask the media to please respect our privacy as we try to grieve the short life of our beautiful child.”

Elianne Andam was a student of the Old Palace of John Whitgift school where she was studying hard to fulfil her dream of being a lawyer – her aunt Marian told MailOnline at her mother’s Croydon residence.

“You just can’t comprehend the heartbreak of the last 24 hours, how Elianne went to school and never came home,” Marian said.

‘She wanted to be a lawyer, she went to private school paid for by my sister and had a great future ahead of her. She was a lovely girl, she loved doing her hair, had beautiful natural hair, and she really loved gymnastics.

‘We’re a big family and we are all here for our sister, to support her. This has left us absolutely devastated. My sister is not feeling good, this only happened yesterday. It hasn’t sunk in yet, it’s a tragedy.’
