Hillis’ girlfriend, Angela Cole, took to social media to announce that he has officially been taken off the ventilator and is progressing as he continues to recover from such a heroic act.
The incident occurred in a Pensacola, Florida beach, and thankfully, Hillis saved his children’s lives and is now being praised by NFL fans and non-football fans.
Hillis played for seven seasons in the NFL with four different teams; his best season came in 2010 as a member of the Cleveland Browns when the at the time three-year pro ended his third season with 1,177 yards on the ground along with eleven touchdowns and adding 477 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Hillis became so beloved following his breakout season that fans voted him as the cover star for Madden NFL 12; Hillis was chosen over some big-time quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan.
As Hillis’ recovery continues to move forward, we want to send all of our best to him and his loved ones throughout this trying and stressful time, but with that said, Peyton Hillis, the father, will forever be a hero.
