Shirley Manson is a Scottish singer, songwriter, musician, and actress. She is the lead singer of the alternative rock band Garbage. Other members of Garbage are Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig.
Shirley’s father, John Mitchell Manson, is descended from the fishing community of Northmavine, Shetland. Her mother, Muriel Flora (MacKay), was adopted at an early age, by Florence and Ronald MacDonald , and took on the family name MacDonald. She is married to musician, audio engineer, and record producer Billy Bush.
Shirley’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to her third great-grandfather, Magnus Manson.
