Yesterday we heard a report from Radar Online that Elin Woods had agreed to move back in with her scandal-ridden husband, Tiger. Many of you commented that the story smacked of positive PR from Woods’s people, who are surely anxious to get him back in the good graces of the many sponsors who dropped him. That could possibly be the case as People Magazine picked up the story afterwards with more details, including Elin’s reluctance to have a romantic relationship with her husband (who can blame her?) and the fact that she was “doing this more for the kids.” People’s story didn’t mince words when it came to Elin and Tiger’s reunion, though, and called their marriage “smoke and mirrors” and added that “Elin will help Tiger rebuild his image and gain new sponsorships because this is what his life is all about.” Elin will live with Tiger, according to People, but it’s not like she’s going to share a bed with him. “Because of the children and his need to return to golf, she will try to live in the house with a wall between them.”
So did Elin leak that story to People in order to counteract the story in Radar, possibly planted by Tiger’s camp, that she was moving back in and had been spotted kissing and hugging her husband in the backyard? Are Tiger’s people going with a “tell the truth and see if it works” approach? I’m not sure, but Tiger’s longterm caddy Steve Williams finally spoke out yesterday about how he was disappointed in him but had no idea Tiger was cheating. I’m thinking that was wholly planned by Tiger’s people to make it seem spontaneous and realistic. The Masters are next month and Tiger could be there.
In related news, OK! Magazine is reporting that Elin is fighting with her mother-in-law, Kultida Woods, over Elin’s reluctance to forgive her husband. Kultida was in the front row looking solemn when Tiger delivered his apology speech. Elin wasn’t there and that was likely a bone of contention between the two.
“Elin is very Christian and Tida is very Buddhist,” the source reveals.”Tida sided with Tiger to not attend his daughter’s baptism. From that point on, their relationship went from composed and formal to distant.”
Tiger’s affairs didn’t help.
Tida, says the source, is 100 percent behind her son: “Whatever doesn’t fit into that game plan — like Elin not immediately forgiving and forgetting — makes Tida angry. She’s a woman who forgave her cheating husband, so she thinks Elin should do the same thing and stop shaming him.”
Tida’s ideals seem to pit the two against each other.
“Tida is old-fashioned and thinks Elin should stand by Tiger regardless of his behavior,” the source explains. “When Elin decided not to go to Tiger’s press conference, this really upset Tida. She was more angry at her daughter-in-law than at Tiger for putting everyone in this situation.”
Still, “they both put good faces on because they both love Tiger,” adds the source. “Elin holds the balance of power now, and she couldn’t care less what Tida wants. As far as she’s concerned, all of this, especially marital issues, is none of Tida’s business.”
[From OK!]
Elin gave Tiger two beautiful children and instead of leaving the country with them immediately she stuck around. That’s a major concession and Kultida should be kissing her daughter-in-law’s ass for even attempting to forgive Tiger after the terrible way he behaved. The guy cheated on her with hookers and ‘hos for years. Isn’t it always the mother-in-law that blames their child’s spouse no matter what? Just because Tida dealt with betrayal for years and sucked it up doesn’t mean that Elin deserves to be sh*t on too.
