Betta Lemme has celebrated and taken pride in her sexuality with her brand new single, “Girls”!

Released at the height of Pride Month, “Girls” is an infectious pop track with a synthy beat and a catchy, singalong-esque chorus.

Betta – who identities as sexually fluid – announces her attraction to females using playful lyricism, while also serving a message of declaration to anyone from the LGBTQ+ community.

She also highlights the issues that many LGBTQ+ people face in trying to conform against heteronormative gender binaries, which is still expected in some countries.

Betta has dedicated the song to her younger self, to remind her that it is okay to like whoever you desire, and no one can try and change that.

Speaking of the message of her single, she explained: “I wish I heard a song like this when I was growing up! I wrote this song for my younger self and want to celebrate it now that I’m older, I hope others can do the same.

“We often look for allies of ourselves and spend a lifetime learning how to be an ally for ourselves. What I hope for is that everyone who is also afraid of cis-hetero-normativity to join together and realise we are not alone.”

“Girls” is set to be included on Betta’s upcoming EP, which will be released later this year.

It comes after the singer-songwriter previously released the singles “Ce Soir” and “Cry” – which pays homage to the late 90s dance track “Blue (Da Bee Dee)” by Eiffel 65.

Betta Lemme got her big break after collaborating with dance duo Sofi Tukker on the track “Awoo” in 2017.

The following year, she released “Bambola”, a modern rendition of Patty Pravo’s “La Bambola”, which has gone on to achieve over 68 million streams to date. It has also become a chart success, hitting number one in Israel and number four in Italy.

The song was also included in the Netflix film “To All the Boys: Always and Forever”, which was released in February.

Betta released her debut EP, also titled “Bambola”, in 2018, and later released the one-off singles “Give It” and “Kick the Door”.

In 2019, she released the club hit “Play”, and in March 2020, she dropped “I’m Bored”, as she spoke of her frustration regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Her single, “Mommy”, saw her challenge the many stereotypes that women face in regards to aging and getting older.
