Kendall Jenner’s Harper’s Bazaar cover brings up an interesting sartorial question: should you wear your bejeweled panties over or under your pantyhose? Clearly, Kendall believes that decorative panties go OVER pantyhose, so here we are. Kendall is one of three cover subjects for Bazaar’s “Icons Issue.” We just throw that word around all the time, suddenly everyone is an “icon” and someone is “iconic” for being a regular old model or celebrity. I’m guilty of it too, only I would never refer to Kendall Jenner as iconic in any way. This interview is a snooze – she’s a Scorpio without any drama. Some highlights:
Coming into her womanhood: “I feel like I am coming into my womanhood and having so many strong women around me has helped shape my sense of worth.”
She didn’t feel overexposed as a kid on reality TV: “I just kind of kept to myself. I loved hiding out in my room and doing my own thing or riding my horses.”
The modeling industry: “It’s not always the easiest industry to be in. It can be really cutthroat and intense sometimes.”
Her therapy journey: “I feel really balanced right now. I started my therapy journey a year and a half ago. I meet with my therapist once a week, so every week I’m learning something new. I’m constantly evolving and just excited to do that.”
She loves hard: “I love really hard, and I love without apology. I don’t like goodbyes, and I will fight to not have to say goodbye. I will always fight for relationships. I’ve been that way since I was little, although I was shy and sometimes very closed off. I don’t give up on anything. Some people aren’t willing to meet me at that level. But that’s okay. I’d rather do that than shut myself off to something and not give it a proper chance.”
Her Scorpio energy: I ask Jenner if she’s familiar with the astrological lore around Scorpios, who are said to be so mysterious because they are associated with not one but three symbols: the scorpion, the stereotypical vengeful stinger; the eagle, which uses Scorpios’ capacity for hard work to better their world; and the phoenix, whose capacity for deep love leads to higher understanding. The idea is that Scorpios embody all of these archetypes at certain points, cycling through them, not necessarily in a linear manner. For Jenner, it’s yet another narrative to negotiate. “My affection for people and my empathy has only grown,” she says, smiling. “My favorite part of getting older is the wisdom and knowledge.”
Have you ever heard of a Scorpio with this kind of boring energy? Scorpios are usually the life of the party, social animals who love the drama. She can’t even give a good quote about her astrological sign!! Anyway, I didn’t know that she’s been in therapy for the past year and a half. Good for her, although I do wonder what the f–k she talks about with her therapist? And not liking goodbyes… this Virgo can’t relate, we love goodbyes. We love to cut people off forever.
